What is Tuina Anmo?
Tuina Anmo is a medical massage therapy and a branch of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). The syllables tui – na – an – mo literally describes the four basic techniques of this exceptional healing art: „tui“ is translated with push, „na“ grasp, „an“ press and „mo“ means „to circle“.
Part of the uniqueness of Tuina Anmo is that a proper TCM diagnosis is required prior each treatment and this is based on obversation of the patients tongue and feeling his pulse. A TCM therapist in Tuina Anmo also considers symptoms and pre-excisting conditions before setting-up an individual holistic treatment plan – probably the greatest strenght of TCM.
How can Tuina Anmo help you?
Tuina Anmo applies throughout the meridians, either in or against the direction of the „qi“ to tonify, sedate or harmonise the energy flow hence, to speed up self-healing and wellbeing. The massage techniques may be gentle or quite firm, mostly dynamic, rhythmical and partly in high frequency. They are performed over large areas but also on acupoints and triggerpoints to remove stagnation and increase the metabolism of the outer layers of the body such as skin, muscles, ligaments, tendons and soft tissue.
Joints simply improve their movement range due to the relief of tension. Therefore, Tuina Anmo is useful for treating most conditions of the musculosceletal system (lumbago, frozen shoulder, rheumatism, sports injuries ect.), but is also helpful to people with fatigue, sleeping disorders, menstruation issues or digestive problems. Additional techniques like cupping, Gua Sha and moxibustion as well as modern laser-acupuncture and taping supports and extends the practitioners manual work.
